ANDREW DALY
STRAIGHT OUTTA RIDGEWOOD
Sure, Andrew Daly may be living in Los Angeles now, but he grew up in Ridgewood, and that (along with making perhaps the funniest comedy album ever made) is good enough for inclusion in this New Jersey blog.
You may recognize Daly from his brief stint on Mad TV, or his scene-stealing role in Semi-Pro, or as the perverted Ben Franklin impersonator on The Office, or as “Brad the Friendly Homeowner” and “Cryogenics Salesman” on Reno 911, or in his various roles on Crossballs and Root of All Evil.
But you haven’t even gotten a taste of what this comedian is capable of until you’ve listened to his latest album, Nine Sweaters, released on AST Records. From perverted old man Ben Alterman (pictured above) to star-in-the-making Hap Arden, to Skip McCabe, who’s goal is to bring back the old-fashioned sing-along, even if he had to cut off his wife’s hands to do so. All of Daly’s characters have the facade of being really friendly people, but once you scratch away at the surface, you see that they’re all hilariously disturbed.
